After Shower Instructions

Do not wrap your hair up tight in a towel right out of the shower. Wet hair is very stretchy when wet. When you wrap it up tightly in a towel, even for a few minutes, some strands dry in this stretched position. That’s what causes a lot of breakage in long hair.

Instead, get the excess moisture off your hair gently with a towel. Apply leave in conditioner to your hair before you detangle. I suggest rubbing the conditioner into your hands like lotion. Work into your pony tail, starting with the ends of your hair and working towards your scalp.

Gently pick through the hair. Always gently detangle wet hair with a large pick or insanely large wide tooth comb. Pulling through wet hair with a brush is a big no no and causes breakage!

Curly Hair

If you have curly hair, immediately apply curling lotion after you pick your hair. Most women with curly hair believe that they shouldn’t pick out their hair because it will ruin the curls. This is wrong and should be avoided.

Once you pick your curls and apply curling lotion, you can scrunch your curls or twist curls with your finger to air dry. Curls that dry without product are snarly, fuzzy, frizzy, and dry (oh my)!

Fine Hair

If you have fine hair, you should also detangle right away with a very light leave in conditioner such as Redken SatinWear, Redken Anti-Snap, or Grund Smooth.

Fine hair is never going to have a ton of volume the same day as a shampoo. Just don’t apply conditioner near your scalp. You should apply a good volumizer like Redken Full Frame or Redken Guts and blow dry.

Short, Spiky Hair

Short Spikes don’t need to be detangled. Also, there is really no need for leave in conditioner with spikes. It kind of defeats the purpose. Short hair should be textured and jagged for a modern look.
