Midwest Second Hand Style!Color FAQsGoing From Black to Blonde! When you ask a hairdresser to go from black to blonde in one day, you are being very unrealistic. Sometimes you can’t have everything you want right away. Young women in High School often ask for this service but never want to pay for it. Going from black to blonde is very expensive, as it should be. You should expect to pay over $250 just for the color service in Madison WI. If you live in a larger city, expect $350 to $500! I suggest starting with some caramel or red-brown highlights. After a few weeks, you could safely add some lighter caramels or golds. After two or three heavy highlights, your hair will have a healthy, golden blonde appearance. I also highly suggest cutting off several inches of your hair. Please do not ask for this service the day before prom or the day before your Senior Pictures. If you are a parent, teach your child a lesson. Make her pay for the service herself or make her grow it out. More likely than not, you told her not to color her hair black. She just wouldn’t listen to you, would she? I don’t mean to be preachy, but I have had enough of High School Girls wanting super blonde, perfectly straight hair. I’m done with your crying, your temper tantrums, and your parent’s refusal to accept responsibility for you childish actions. Please grow up. Is your Hair Color a little too dark? Most hairstylists will formulate your hair color about a shade darker than desired when covering grey. This avoids hot, lighter roots and excessive color fade. If you hair seems just a shade too dark after a color, don’t freak out. One or two shampoos will take the edge off the color. How Do I Schedule A Color AppointmentIf you don’t know what color service you should book for, ask the receptionist or a stylist for help. If you only book for a color, but really want a color, foil, and haircut, you probably won’t be able to get all of these services. On the other hand, if you book for a color, foil, and cut and only ask for a single process color, your stylist will have too much time. That time could have booked with another customer who really needed to get in! If you are new to a stylist or salon, schedule a 15 minute consultation. They are free at my salon and are a good way to make color decisions. During the Consultation, you should ask about stylist hours, what colors look best with your skin tone, price, and how to schedule. If you don’t like the stylist, keep looking! How Much Does Color Cost?Professional Hair Color is Expensive. If you want something really cheap, just remember it will look cheap. If you are concerned about the cost of an extra color, or a few more foils, ask! In my personal experience, many women are insulted when I ask if the price is okay. Client’s generally say, “Money is of No Concern” or “Do whatever it takes!” It is your hairdressers job to be honest about price, but it is also your job as a consumer to ask questions about price, longevity, and maintenance.
