Be Green! Make Home Made Compost!

Save Money! Create your own compost at home with materials you already have. Designate a corner of your garden for the compost pile. I prefer a tucked away corner away from sight.

Make sure to add your ingredients in layers.

Compost needs heat. Alternating layers of yard waist and kitchen waist produce more heat, making the process go faster.

Stirring your compost weekly with a pitchfork will help speed up the process. Lack of moisture will slow down decomposition.

Run the hose on your pile weekly during dry months. Save Water by using saved runoff rainwater.

Purchase an At Home Composter

There are dozen, if not hundreds, of composters on the internet. They are clean, convenient, and made for quick composting. Many are designed in a barrel that can be rotated without much effort.
