Go Green! Save Our Waters!
Go Green! Save Our Waters! The Health and Supply of fresh water is important to our survival as a species. We need to do all we can to protect this precious resource! Purchase Organic Products! Most water pollution comes from agricultural and manufacturing byproducts. Organic farmers do not use chemical pesticides or fertilizers. That way the food we eat doesn’t poison the earth.
Landscape with Native Plants!Native plants have a natural resistance to drought and insects. You don’t need fertilizer or pesticides. Native plants are beautiful, hearty, and don’t need to be replanted. Native plants have deep roots that allow rainwater and runoff to be filtered naturally by the earth. More conventional landscaping plants don’t soak up natural water, and our precious fresh water eventually ends up in the sea, not in the fresh water table. If It’s Yellow, Let It Mellow! All of our fresh water is going down the toilet, pun intended. Most Americans are more concerned about the sanitation of their toilet than their kitchen counters and refrigerators. It’s ok to urinate twice in the toilet before flushing. Think of how much water you would save! If you are concerned about sanitation, you should be cleaning your kitchens, remotes, counters, and refrigerators. They are a gillion times dirtier than letting some “yellow mellow” for an hour.
Wash Full Loads!Save our natural resources and was full loads of laundry. There is no need to just was one or two items in a washing machine. Wait until you have a full load to do the weekly wash. Collect rainwater for Landscaping!Catch the spring and summer rain in pales. You can use it to water your plants. A few buckets of rainwater may not seem like much, but over a lifetime you can make a big difference. Don’t Water Plants During Midday or Late Afternoon!Water Evaporates during the hottest part of the day. Water your plants in the early morning or early evening. Less water will be sucked into the atmosphere.
